About Me

My photo
I am a Mom, Wife and Daughter. Say road trip and I am all ready in the car. I do love to stay home too. I am either reading, sewing, crocheting, doing something with paper or taking care of my family at any given moment.

Back yard critters

This little bunny comes for breakfast and supper. Sometimes he brings a friend.

This squirrel is a daily visitor.. I can't imagine he gets much out of the feeder and eating upside down has got to be difficult.

Winter Hardy Hybiscus

No walk this morning as I am meeting with a client. Instead here are photos of the Winter Hardy Hybiscus in our front yard. This looks like something out of The Rocky Horror Picture Show or maybe Morticia Adams' garden! The plant stands four and a half feet tall and the blooms are ten inches across. These plants winter over with no special care which makes them perfect here in Michigan.

Queen Anne's Lace

Growing up in Southern California the only times I saw Queen Anne's Lace was visiting my Grandma in Illinois. My brother and I would pick handfuls for her from the road sides. She would put some in a vase and the rest she would let Dean and I put into jars of food coloring. The color would travel up the stem overnight and in the morning we would have colored lace. I see Queen Anne's Lace along the road where ever I go now that I live in Michigan. It brings back such wonderful memories.

Hamburg Michigan Vietnam War Memorial July 8,2010

Stephanie and I drove over to Hamburg to see The Wall. The drive through rural Michigan is a lovely activity anyway, wild flowers, horse farms and fields of corn and soy beans. We got there around 10 and they were just starting to put the wall up. A late start while they waited for enough guards. It was me and Stephanie and hundreds of Vietnam Vets mostly on motorcycles. We had to leave after an hour because of the heat. I was getting too emotional as well.

Look what got thrown out today!

I'll never understand why you would throw this stuff out to overflow our landfills.

We walked early again to beat the heat. I carried a few things home in the bag on my daughter's chair but most I had to come back for with the car!!! All these things are in perfect condition! 2 sturdy stools, 2 wood curtain rods with wood brackets. 4 lamp bases and 2 shades, 1 wall vase, 1 globe and a pair of short plantation shutters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one day I leave my camera at home.

Yesterday I walked early to beat the heat. I had no pockets and my daughter was still asleep so I didn't have the wheelchair with a bag either. Of course this was the day a baby brown bunny posed perfectly in the grass for me, the Goose Family I have been watching all season were floating serenely across the pond Mom in front Dad in back and two Great Blue Herons (I have never seen them on these ponds) fishing in the shallow water. Magnificent birds!!! So instead here are a couple of pictures of our back yard... My husband's pride and joy!
