About Me

My photo
I am a Mom, Wife and Daughter. Say road trip and I am all ready in the car. I do love to stay home too. I am either reading, sewing, crocheting, doing something with paper or taking care of my family at any given moment.

Monterey Bay Aquarium meets G and Pontiac

We moved here from the Monterey Peninsula. We were members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium before it even opened. If you ever have the chance go see it. It is wonderful. Anyway, my daughter found a pretty aquarium sweat shirt at the Salvation Army in Livonia, Michigan! We can't seem to take photos that don't include at least one on the cats. I sure wish it would warm up just a tad!

When she smiles my world lights up

Stephanie got the giggles! She rarely laughs and when she does it is a great thing. She got to giggling the other night and couldn't stop. Then Gaela and I caught it and we were weeping with laughter.

What do you do with this stuff???

I get a three carton shipment every month strapped together with four to six of these black plastic webbed straps. The cartons are easy to re-use, I use them to ship my store orders. I know there must be some fantastic use for the straps! Any ideas anyone? Does someone want these. So far I have over 50 straps that are all over 6 feet long!!! And I will be getting more every month for the foreseeable future! Just playing with the cats with them seems to not be the best use of materials or time. It is too much fun though! I will not add them to the landfill.

Just wanted to post a few pictures of the trail I walk on almost every day. Today it was as cold as it looks!

I was able to walk today for the first time in a week. It is very cold but not as cold as these photos would suggest. I didn't slip on any ice like last week but I did trip on a piece of sidewalk that has heaved in the freeze thaw cycle. I wouldn't want to believe that I could walk four miles and not have an incident of clumsiness on some level. It was foggy overnight so all the trees and shrubs are covered with ice crystals like they have been sprinkles with sugar. It was lovely.

A week ago Friday my husband came home from work after stopping at Walgreens. He had picked up a few things for himself and had added a pop up house for the boys (Cadillac and Pontiac, the cats) This simple cube has portholes on three sides and a couple of catnip infused streamers. Cadillac went nuts, won't let Pontiac near it..... Still. Cadillac sleeps in it and Heaven help you if you try yo move it. When Pontiac walks nearby a paw reaches out and swipes at him. Hours of amusement for the entire family.
I keep saying I'll take some pictures and then post on my blog.. Well the photos don't seem to be happening so I'll write and then add the photos. I have been busy with crocheting a blanket to go on my oldest daughter's sofa. It is blue and brown and should match the pillows I made her a few years ago. I had hoped to have it done by Christmas but that didn't happen. I should be busier in my stores but again there is that not wanting to take photos issue.... For some reason I seem to be making pasta salad every couple of days... I don't eat much mainly because I make it put it in the fridge and by the time I am ready for a bowl it is gone. The whole family seems to love it. I never make the same one twice as I just throw in whatever stuff is in the fridge and the dressing is whatever flavor strikes me that day. The dressing usually have mayo and sour cream, a mild vinegar and a sweetener (honey or brown sugar but yesterday a splash of molasses). Then it either goes spicy with some salsa or maybe traditional with some mustard and pickle relish. That is what is going on in the house or not going on as the case may be. Besides all the usual stuff. And then I am thinking I don't think there is mail delivery tomorrow.. Always a disappointment.

On New Years Eve my husband came home from work and built our daughter a snowman. She was delighted. He is kind of a spooky fellow but S had fun watching and my husband had fun making it for her. His hair is a sprig of dried zebra grass, his eyes baby carrots. It has been below freezing ever since so the little man has really held up. We are hoping for a January thaw soon so I thought I would snap a few last pictures of our friend covered in a few more inches of snow than when built. We will miss him but a few degrees above freezing will be welcome. I tried to walk on Monday and slipped and fell. I am still recovering from that... No major damage but still... At least no one saw me....or maybe they did and stayed hidden. Anyway if the ice melts a little I will be able to get a walk in!
