Winter Is Here.....It Is All Fun And Games Till The Plow Takes Out The Mailbox!

Our beautiful backyard winter wonderland!
The pretty part of our front yard.
The not so pretty part of the front yard.
And then the plow took out our mailbox.......

Our Christmas Present To Ourselves

This is our new water softener/filter!
This is the old set up.....
This is the new set up....
Look at all the freed up floor space! No salt! We replace the filter cartridge every six months. We should be cutting our water usage in half! The tap water tastes great too!

Dr. Sheldon Cooper's First Snow

The Newest Member Of The Back Yard Menagerie

This hawk was sitting in the tree out back as Stephanie and I came home from a walk last Thursday. On Sunday this guy (I am assuming both gender and that it is the same hawk) was perched on one of the bird feeders out back. Today as Stephanie and I got home from our trip Ann Arbor to get a flu shot out hawk friend was circling over the house looking for brunch.

Ann Arbor Michigan's Steiner Holiday Bazaar December 1, 2012

Sadly our pretty table looked just the same at the beginning and end of the sale..... Not a good year at all.... But we had fun.

Hair Do-Dads.....

I made close to forty of these hair clips last week.. This is just a sample of the colors and fabrics. They sure are fun to make and use up really small bits of scrap fabric!

Wreath for the Wall or as a Centerpiece

I finished this yesterday......One of my favorite wreaths ever.....Almost hoping it doesn't sell!

What to do?

Should this dress be fixed up? Donated as is? Or cut up for the fabric? It does look cute on Gaela. It is a Gunne Sax by Jessica McClintock. These are the questions to ponder today as I glue hair do-dads together!

I got a bit overzealous with the spray paint....That project will be finished Thursday.

Sandy Hits South Lyon

This was going to be a cute post about the mini-snowman my husband built on the porch railing before he left for work this morning.....
But then I looked out the back window and saw this.....
And then of course this reminder of what is to come....

Charlie was rescued by a local man from certain death on our Michigan roads. At first Charlie's rescuer began searching for a forever home for him while getting Charlie the medical help he needed. As the days moved on he fell in love with Charlie and decided that he was this lucky cat's forever home. He then got the word he was being transferred to China for a year. Charlie is being boarded at the kennel where my daughter works for the full year. The man's mom comes by and visits and takes pictures for him and on occasion Charlie comes home with Gaela for a stayCATion from kennel life. He spends most of his time guarding our home from marauding squirrels and chipmunks from this perch in our florida room. He takes occasional breaks from his grueling schedule to get some belly rubs from the people that live here. Our resident cats are not big fans of Charlie but they are tolerating the intrusion by cowering under beds and cabinets.
